LECTURE - GARDEN HERITAGE OF SOUTH WEST ENGLAND - early plant collectors George Forrest checking his collecting journals.
"South West England has many magnificent gardens, containing a wide range of plants collected by many Devon and Cornish collectors or on behalf of Devon and Cornish sponsors. These Include Sir Joseph Hooker, Sir Charles Lemon, the Lobb brothers, George Forrest, Kingdon Ward, David Douglas, Ernest Wilson, David Pearce, Veitch's of Exeter, and Williams, Fox, Johnstone and Bolitho families. Some members of these families are still active very active in the gardening world along with an incredible breed of 20th century and present day plantsman. This talk is about them and many of the garden worthy wonderful plants that they brought back, nurtured or bred for garden in South West England and parks and gardens of the temperate world."
